Adventure Time

One of my goals for 2014 is to travel more. I'm quite lucky in that I've visited a fair few places in Europe and I've been to America but I would love to adventure more, even for day trips in the UK, I just want to see and appreciate more of the world that we live in!

Countries that I would love to visit ASAP:

  • Canada
  • Russia
  • Belgium
  • Japan
  • Sweden
  • Poland
  • Iceland
  • China
  • Finland
I've even made a Pinterest board dedicated to the beautiful places that exist.
Have you visited any of the places listed above? Where would you love to go?

Hello Sailor!

Today I had a much needed day off work, although it was spent sorting out some print orders and drinking copious amounts of tea. I've had a cold for about 4 weeks now and I still can't shake it off so tea has very much been my saving grace! I got this dress the year before last I think but I just love how it nips in at the waist but flares over my hips, super flattering! I got the necklace as a gift from my uncles fiance for my birthday and I love it, I don't tend to wear much jewellery but when I do I definitely go for big quirky pieces!

I love the hair clips and always get complimented lots on them, I got them at a fair in Bristol the year before last and I quite like how they match my hair now. Talking of which lets just ignore how awful my roots are at the moment! I've just not had the time to do them lately and I've been trying to wash the blue out of my hair for a month now but it just won't budge! The purple has also washed out into a sort of icy/cool blue which I do quite like but until I do my roots I'm not intending on dying my hair which is giving me some time to think about what colour I prefer.

I'm back at work tomorrow but I'm going to try and shoot some more outfit posts/draft some blog posts when I have the time. I'd love some ideas for posts too if anyone has any suggestions please comment below!

Albums I loved in 2013!

Seeing as Sunday I forgot to post a playlist and today is New Years Eve I decided to just do a round up of albums I loved in 2013. To be brutally honest there weren't a lot I particularly enjoyed but the 5 I have picked I bloody well loved and have played them repeatedly since they came out!
Also just to note they aren't really in any particular order.

Daughter - If You Leave
This has probably been my favourite album of 2013 and one I have listened to every week. I find the lyrics so beautifully honest and found I could pretty much relate to every song 100%. The songs are so captivating and Elena's voice is so haunting. My personal favourites from the album are 'Still', 'Shallows' and 'Youth'.

The 1975 - The 1975
Okay so I heard the first riff from Chocolate and I was sold. This album was a breath of fresh air and something pretty different to everything else I was listening too. I'd recommend 'Chocolate', 'Heart out' and 'Sex'.

Arctic Monkeys - AM
I love the Arctic Monkeys, 'Whatever People Say I am, That's What I'm Not' would probably feature on my list of all time favourite albums but I'd never had the same feelings with the albums predecessors, up until AM that is. Alex Turner is a musical/lyrical genius. I judge an album by how many songs listen to without skipping a track and I didn't skip one song therefore this is a bloody good album in my eyes, or should that be ears? Anyway if you haven't listened to this what planet are you living on, go and listen to it now! Particularly 'One For The Road', 'Arabella' and 'I Want It All' which is my personal favourite from the album and probably moves its way to my top 5 Arctic Monkeys songs, like eva!

Frank Turner - Tape Deck Heart
If you haven't picked up on it yet I'm a massive fan of song writers and Frank Turner is no exception to this, in fact he's one of my favourites. His songs are often full of angst, fuck you's to society with the occasional ballad of love thrown in for equal measure! If you're a fan of awesome punk music I'd definitely recommend checking out his old band Million Dead if you haven't done already, but you should all have a Frank Turner album on your iPods/other musical device! I especially love 'The Way I Tend To Be', 'Undeveloped Film' and 'Anymore' which is essentially the story of a recent break up, but although it's quite a sad song is also strangely comforting.

Paramore - Paramore
Paramore are one of my favourite bands! There's been a bit of "omgz how could they change their sound so much it's no good they've moved on" I personally flipping loved the new album and change is good. People would have criticized them if they'd stayed the same, although Hayley... I'm really not a fan of the latex clothes. This album is different and has a lot of interludes so if you want to listen to something a little different check out 'Moving On', 'Holiday' and 'I'm Not Angry Anymore'.

So there you go! My top 5 albums of 2013, I'm hoping next year I can make this at least a top 10 'cos I really need more influential music in my life! I'm also going to get back into more gigs too! This year I only went to 2 I think which is bloody shocking!

What are your favourite albums of 2013?

Sunday Playlist #1

I'm going to make my Sunday playlist a weekly feature, or at least try to anyway! I listen to music everyday and growing up music has definitely played an important part in my life! I can't even remember how many gigs I've been to over the years but it's a lot!

So my top 10 songs this week have been:

1. Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood
2. Brand New - Degausser
3. We Were Promised Jetpacks - Conductor
4. Frank Turner - A Decent Cup of Tea
5. Reuben - What's Good For Me
6. Daughter - Smother
7. Maximo Park - Books From Boxes
8. Blur -Essex Dogs
9. Scroobius Pip - Feel It
10. Baddies - Tiffany, I'm Sorry

I've made a Spotify playlist if you want to give them a listen. Please feel free to leave a comment, I'd love to know what you've been listening to!

Come take a walk...

As I mentioned in my previous post I recently went for a walk to take some photos as I hadn't taken any in a while and I was in need of fresh air! Usually I stick to weddings/fashion photography but I felt very inspired looking at my good friend Johnny's work (he's also just started a new blog) that I decided I needed to stop worrying about finding props and models and just enjoy the landscape and surroundings around me. I definitely feel like I'm falling back in love with my photography again. I'm curretly working 5/6 days a week so it's nice to take some time out on my days off to explore new places, I didn't even know places like this existed in Essex and I've lived here for 20 years!
What inspires you?

Fallen Leaves

Yesterday I wanted to get out of the house so I hopped in the car with my parents and we went to Hyde Hall, a Royal Horticultural Society garden located just outside the center of Chelmsford. It always amazes me that places like this exist in Essex, it's a lot different to what is shown on TOWIE!

Photography is my first love and lately I've been feeling a little distant from it so more than anything I wanted to wander round with my camera, not have any deadlines or client expectations and photograph what ever intrigued me!

My mum kindly took some outfit photos for me whilst we were wandering around, so thanks mum! I think I'll leave my photos to another blog post otherwise it's going to be quite a long one!

Dress: Asos
Cardigan: Primark
Coat: Henry Holland @ Debenhams
Shoes: Dr Martens

I totally forgot to photograph the back of this dress, but to be honest it was so bloody cold I didn't want to take my coat off let alone my cardigan (and yes it is the same cardigan as the last post but in black!) but the back has the most awesome corset style detail to tie it up. I love the colours and it's super comfy and flattering. If you couldn't tell so far, I have a bit of a thing for Asos dresses!

One For The Road

Hat: H&M
Dress: ASOS
Boots: ASOS
Cardigan: Primark
It stopped raining long enough for me to run out and take these today. I did have another outfit post to share but I decided I didn't actually like it so I started again! Today I got up super early and popped to Debenhams with my mum to take advantage of the half price offers they had on, mum picked up a bag and I got this christmas jumper by Henry Holland!

I love this Asos dress because it literally takes me a second to throw it on with a cardi and some boots and run straight out the door and it's super comfy! I got the boots from Asos at the beginning of the year and they were definitely more than worth the mere £20 that I paid for them! Total bargain! I got this cardigan a few weeks ago in Primark and recently picked up the black version. As you can tell I'm all about casual and comfy dressing! Teddy decided he wanted to join in too so now you can all see my little canine best friend! I'm sure he'll make some more appearances.

Also thanks to my brother for taking these when my camera remote decided to die! My camera isn't the easiest to use so he did pretty well I think!
