Albums I loved in 2013!

Seeing as Sunday I forgot to post a playlist and today is New Years Eve I decided to just do a round up of albums I loved in 2013. To be brutally honest there weren't a lot I particularly enjoyed but the 5 I have picked I bloody well loved and have played them repeatedly since they came out!
Also just to note they aren't really in any particular order.

Daughter - If You Leave
This has probably been my favourite album of 2013 and one I have listened to every week. I find the lyrics so beautifully honest and found I could pretty much relate to every song 100%. The songs are so captivating and Elena's voice is so haunting. My personal favourites from the album are 'Still', 'Shallows' and 'Youth'.

The 1975 - The 1975
Okay so I heard the first riff from Chocolate and I was sold. This album was a breath of fresh air and something pretty different to everything else I was listening too. I'd recommend 'Chocolate', 'Heart out' and 'Sex'.

Arctic Monkeys - AM
I love the Arctic Monkeys, 'Whatever People Say I am, That's What I'm Not' would probably feature on my list of all time favourite albums but I'd never had the same feelings with the albums predecessors, up until AM that is. Alex Turner is a musical/lyrical genius. I judge an album by how many songs listen to without skipping a track and I didn't skip one song therefore this is a bloody good album in my eyes, or should that be ears? Anyway if you haven't listened to this what planet are you living on, go and listen to it now! Particularly 'One For The Road', 'Arabella' and 'I Want It All' which is my personal favourite from the album and probably moves its way to my top 5 Arctic Monkeys songs, like eva!

Frank Turner - Tape Deck Heart
If you haven't picked up on it yet I'm a massive fan of song writers and Frank Turner is no exception to this, in fact he's one of my favourites. His songs are often full of angst, fuck you's to society with the occasional ballad of love thrown in for equal measure! If you're a fan of awesome punk music I'd definitely recommend checking out his old band Million Dead if you haven't done already, but you should all have a Frank Turner album on your iPods/other musical device! I especially love 'The Way I Tend To Be', 'Undeveloped Film' and 'Anymore' which is essentially the story of a recent break up, but although it's quite a sad song is also strangely comforting.

Paramore - Paramore
Paramore are one of my favourite bands! There's been a bit of "omgz how could they change their sound so much it's no good they've moved on" I personally flipping loved the new album and change is good. People would have criticized them if they'd stayed the same, although Hayley... I'm really not a fan of the latex clothes. This album is different and has a lot of interludes so if you want to listen to something a little different check out 'Moving On', 'Holiday' and 'I'm Not Angry Anymore'.

So there you go! My top 5 albums of 2013, I'm hoping next year I can make this at least a top 10 'cos I really need more influential music in my life! I'm also going to get back into more gigs too! This year I only went to 2 I think which is bloody shocking!

What are your favourite albums of 2013?

I'm going to make my Sunday playlist a weekly feature, or at least try to anyway! I listen to music everyday and growing up music has definitely played an important part in my life! I can't even remember how many gigs I've been to over the years but it's a lot!

So my top 10 songs this week have been:

2. Brand New - Degausser
3. We Were Promised Jetpacks - Conductor
4. Frank Turner - A Decent Cup of Tea
5. Reuben - What's Good For Me
6. Daughter - Smother
7. Maximo Park - Books From Boxes
8. Blur -Essex Dogs
9. Scroobius Pip - Feel It
10. Baddies - Tiffany, I'm Sorry

I've made a Spotify playlist if you want to give them a listen. Please feel free to leave a comment, I'd love to know what you've been listening to!

Come take a walk...

As I mentioned in my previous post I recently went for a walk to take some photos as I hadn't taken any in a while and I was in need of fresh air! Usually I stick to weddings/fashion photography but I felt very inspired looking at my good friend Johnny's work (he's also just started a new blog) that I decided I needed to stop worrying about finding props and models and just enjoy the landscape and surroundings around me. I definitely feel like I'm falling back in love with my photography again. I'm curretly working 5/6 days a week so it's nice to take some time out on my days off to explore new places, I didn't even know places like this existed in Essex and I've lived here for 20 years!
What inspires you?
